Termite Control – Pre Contruction
Termites mostly provide harm in huge proportion to the household properties like furniture, clothing, stationary, wood materials, other organic materials, cellulosic materials like wood. Termites also known to damage non-cellulosic substances in the search for food like rubber, leather, plastic, neoprene as well as lead coating used for covering of underground cables are damaged by termites. The widespread damage by termites, high constructional cost of the building has necessitated by involving suitable measures for preventing access of termites to buildings.
There are two types of termite’s basis on their habits.
- Subterranean termites or Ground Nesting Termites: Subterranean termites make nest under the ground in soil. Usually, these kinds of termites travel through tiny cracks, brick walls in the search of food. The Subterranean termites are most destructive termites and are mainly responsible for the damage caused in building. Typically, they form nest or colonies underground in the soil, near ground level in the stump or other suitable piece of timber, and some species may construct a conical or dome shaped mound.
These colonies may persist for many years and, as they mature, contain a population running into millions. All attacks by Subterranean termites originate from the nest but timber either lying on or buried in the ground may be reached by means of shelter tubes constructed within, or such materials or else by the erection of an independent free standing mud structure. Chemical barrier which prevents the termites from reaching the super structure of the building will protect the building and its contents. Treating the soil beneath the building and around the foundation with a soil termiticide is a good preventing major which is attracting attention through out the world.
The purpose of this treatment is to create a chemical barrier between the ground from where the termites come and woodwork, cellulosic materials and other contents of the buildings/houses which may form a food for the termites. Timber which is seasoned and is naturally durable in heartwood may be used in the building structure/home structure. However, non-durable timber and sapwood of all timbers should be treated to withstand the attack of drywood termites. - Non- Subterranean or Wood Nesting Termites: These kinds of termites having no contact with the soil.
Anti-Termite Pre-construction Treatment Process:
Anti-termite Pre-construction treatment usually comes into the picture before the start of actual construction or building of the property. It’s really very important before constructing/building your home, office, workplace & other properties. Here the layer of soil & mud which is in immediate contact with the foundation & the floor structure of a building is treated with termiticides to remove or kill the termites is basically known as Pre-construction anti-termite treatment.
Step 1: Treating the foundation of the building by the certified chemicals/termiticides. Termites tend to enter the premises firstly through the foundations & walls. Hence foundation & vertical surfaces need to be treated by Anti-termite solutions in first place. This can be achieved by two ways.
A. Applying termiticide chemical spray to the bottom surface of the excavation.
B. Applying termiticide chemical spray around the substructure of the building.
C. Applying termiticide chemical spray before flooring.
Step 2: Anti-termite treatment to the backfilled soil.
Step 3: Anti-termite treatment before PCC.
Step 4: Anti-termite treatment on soling/consolidated earth.
Step 5. Anti-termite treatment on external periphery of the building.
